The Jewish Association for Services for the Aged has secured a $1.41 million contract with the New York City Department for the Aging. The money will fund legal services for the elderly through 2021, with a three-year option for renewal, according to the City Record.
The City Record also shows that The Children’s Village got a $141,520 renewal for Next STEPS programming on behalf of the Department of Probation. The department also gave a $3.2 million contract to the Center for Employment opportunities for neighborhood employment services through the end of the fiscal year on June 30. Another $141,672 contract went to Exodus Transitional Community to renew through June 30, 2019 an contract for mentoring services through the ARCHES program.
The Department of Social Services/Human Resources Administration has awarded a $2.4 million contract to Riseboro Community Partnership. The money will fund homebased homelessness prevention services over three years, according to the City Record.
Catholic Charities of Buffalo surpassed its $11 million funding goal for the 2018 Appeal for Catholic Charities. The funds will help support 70 programs and services provided by Catholic Charities at 61 sites throughout Western New York, according to a press release.
More than 30 veterans advocates congregated in Albany on June 20. The event aimed to promote education, networking, and support among state agencies, nonprofits, veterans groups, rehabilitation organizations and schools, according to a post on the NYSID website.
Those in attendance included: Eric Hesse,, director of the United States Department of Labor Division of Veterans’ Employment and Training Service; Amy Amoroso, director of the Veteran Business Outreach Center NY/NJ at the Arsenal Business and Technology Partnership; Caitlin Rooney, regional director for U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand; Alex Bellizzi, constituent services representative for U.S. Representative John Faso; and Dan Casale, director of constituent services for state Senator Kathleen Marchione.
John Sullivan is the new chief operating officer at the Chinese-American Planning Council Home Attendant Program. He will oversee strategic planning, business operations, human resources and compliance in his new role, according to a June 27 press release.
Sullivan most recently was the program director of People Care Incorporated, which he joined in 1995. He previously worked at the New York City Human Resources Administration.
