Stringer Names Key Deputy Comptroller

New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer is set to name Marjorie Landa as his deputy comptroller for audits today, filling a key position in his office.

One of the comptroller’s chief responsibilities is auditing city contracts, and Stringer has pledged to be aggressive in holding contractors accountable, especially in light of the hundreds of millions of dollars in overpayments in the CityTime payroll scandal that plagued the Bloomberg administration.

Stringer said that Landa would bring valuable experience in legal investigations, government oversight and management. “Conducting audits of city departments, uncovering waste and abuse, and pointing the way toward reforms is one of the Comptroller’s most vital responsibilities, and I know that Marjorie Landa will tackle these challenges with great energy and insight, given her remarkable track record over 25 years,” Stringer said in a statement.

Landa worked for over a decade in the city’s Department of Investigation as deputy commissioner for legal affairs and general counsel. In her new role, she will be responsible for examining every city agency and department.
