Schneiderman Lets Constituents Make Reelection Case in Online Video Campaign
State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's campaign is releasing a new online video series touting his record in office by using personal stories from New Yorkers he helped.
The series, entitled Tough Fights, New York Voices, kicks off with the story of Teri Kroll. After the Long Island woman lost her son to an overdose of prescription drugs, she worked with Schneiderman to pass I-STOP legislation, creating an online database that prevents doctors from over-prescribing medication to patients.
Since taking office Schneiderman has maintained a relatively low profile, granting interviews and making television appearances generally only when he is touting successes by his office. The ad campaign appears to be a continuation of that approach, by focusing on his work instead of shining the spotlight on himself.
The strategy seems to be working for the attorney general. Schneiderman is leading his Republican challenger John Cahill by 27 points in the latest Siena Poll. In 2010, Schneiderman was elected with a 13-point margin, defeating Republican Dan Donovan 56 percent to 43 percent.
