Governor Cuomo will travel to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic
Pack your bags colegas!
In contrast to his first four years in office, New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo is off to yet another trip outside the state. City & State has learned that Cuomo will travel to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico before the November 4 general election. The plans and schedule for the trip to the two Caribbean destinations have advanced to the point that two highly placed sources have confirmed the non-governmental trip.
The Cuomo trip would be recognition of the importance of the Puerto Rican vote and the growth of the Dominican electorate in New York politics who, together, make up the majority of the state’s Latino voters. While the details are still being worked out, the Governor is not expected to be out of the state from more than 48 hours.
Information regarding whether Governor Cuomo would fly to the DR first or vice versa were still being worked out. The trip to the Dominican Republic requires a passport while Puerto Rico, as a territory of the United States, doesn't.
No state legislators or the names of Latino politicians who could or will accompany Governor Cuomo were mentioned by our sources.
Stay tuned.
