HEARD AROUND TOWN: Darryl Towns to join American Airlines

Darryl Towns, former commissioner and CEO of the state Homes and Community Renewal, is taking a job with American Airlines as director of state government relations after leaving his post with the Cuomo administration at the end of June.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo in May appointed Jamie Rubin, former executive director of the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery, to replace Towns.

Towns had held the position since 2011, when he vacated his Assembly seat to run the agency. Since leaving the Cuomo administration, Towns has been enjoying time off with his family before starting his new job in the private sector.
