Micah Kellner loses district leader post

Micah Kellner, who already gave up his Assembly seat in the wake of sexual harassment allegations, has now lost his Upper East Side Democratic district leader post as well.

The preliminary New York City Board of Elections results from last week's primary show Adam Roberts, who previously worked for local City Councilman Ben Kallos, received 403 votes; Kellner got 353.

Roberts declared victory last week, but was not available for comment due to a personal issue. Kellner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

One source familiar with the Upper East Side political scene said Roberts’ victory likely reflects a negative association with Keller’s name. The Assembly’s ethics committee found in 2013 that Kellner sexually harassed two of his employees. He subsequently lost an appeal challenging the findings and decided not to run for re-election.

“The primary results show that the only name recognition that remains is negative,” the source said. “That should be instructive for a state committee seat, which will likely soon be a vacancy, open for an election.”

Last year, Kellner won nearly 57 percent of the counted votes in a three-way state committeeman race.
