Public advocate calls for Cuomo and de Blasio to start acting like adults
"The most important issue is we need adults in the room," is the message New York City Public Advocate Letitia James had for Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio when asked about affordable housing during a City & State TV interview.
The straight-talking James added: "We need the Governor and the Mayor to come together to provide adequate funding for affordable housing and mental illness and homelessness."
James goes on to call Cuomo's and de Blasio's conduct "ridiculous" and makes it clear that people are being hurt "as a result of the ego of these two men".
"When two elephants fight, ants get trampled," James says. "And the ants in New York City are being trampled because of the ego of these two men."
The full interview in which Public Advocate talks about affordable housing, mental illness and the shooting and violence surrounding the West Indian Festival and how the NYPD needs to address this recurring problem will be published later today.
