CEO Corner: Ralph Nunez, ICPH
Ralph Nunez, president of the Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness, came by the NYN office to speak about his organization's new report "Why New York City's Homeless Family Policies Keep Failing." Nunez said that to wrap its arms around homelessness in New York, city government must address not only the "back door" (street homeless and those already in the shelter system), but those coming in the front door. He stressed the importance of understanding who the homeless are so that specialized services can be delivered to each subset of the homeless population. Nunez also criticized New York's street homeless count, calling it "a joke."
