Army veteran and New York City Democratic congressional candidate Max Rose has been endorsed by House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer.
“Now, more than ever, we need courageous leaders in Washington, D.C.,” said Hoyer, noting that Rose is a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. “Max has demonstrated his courage and his commitment not only to his fellow soldiers, but to our country. Staten Islanders and South Brooklynites deserve a member of Congress who will not back down when it comes to fighting for them – and that’s exactly what you will get with Max Rose.”
Rose is one of several Democrats targeting Republican Rep. Dan Donovan in the 11th Congressional District, while Donovan is also facing a primary challenge from Michael Grimm, who previously held the seat.
Rose has been making a name for himself in the race. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee named him as part of the competitive Red to Blue Program, which selectively supports candidates to flip House seats, making him one of only 18 candidates nationwide so far to get that backing. Rose also raised a whopping $330,000 in the most recent quarter and has received endorsements from Reps. Ted Lieu and Seth Moulton.
