There is new state funding available for nonprofits who work with the homeless. More information is available here.
The New York State Medicaid redesign has reportedly been going well, according to a new report. It all involves the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment on “statewide metrics performance, success of statewide projects, total Medicaid spending and Managed Care plan expenditures,” according to a June 1 press release from the state Department of Health. Reporting such data is required by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, as part of a program established in 2014.
More than 1,800 homeless people have left the streets through New York City’s homeless outreach efforts, according to a city press release. The two-year effort is a collaboration among nonprofit contractors including CUCS, Breaking Ground, Bowery Residents’ Committee, NYPD and the Department of Homeless Services.
But as the following video shows, it’s the nonprofits that do the work on the streets as they follow up on 311 calls during their regular rounds throughout the city. About 275 placements are now made each month, according to the press release.
A new “partial hospital” is coming to southwest Yonkers courtesy of Family Services of Westchester, according to a May 29 press release. The money comes from a $50,000 grant from Westchester Community Foundation and will fund behavioral health services for children in pre-K through second grade. The new facility came out of a partnership between Family Services of Westchester and Saint Joseph’s Medical Center. It aims to help kids who are having behavioral problems that affect their school performance.
