WNYC’s “The Takeaway” visited The Fortune Society to hear from formerly incarcerated seniors. The podcast episode discusses the struggles of elderly people once they get out of prison, including daily tasks, medical care, and “the feeling that time has frozen them at the ages they were when they were incarcerated.” Hear the episode here.
The Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York, Philanthropy New York, and the United Nations Foundation are moving in together. They will all live together, so to speak, at the newly renovated Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice on East 43rd Street in Manhattan. The NPCC will remain an independent organization, according to an Oct. 3 email announcing the move.
“Believe it or not, we last moved in 2013! It seems like yesterday, but it’s already been five years. And, because of our new strategy and programming, we’re already outgrowing this space,” reads the email. “The lengthy tenancy is also extremely cost-effective for NPCC in the long term, and will allow us to devote more resources to our programming.”

Three nonprofits have new contracts from the New York City Administration for Children’s Services for foster care services. New Yorkers for Children received a $600,000 contract for an unspecified duration, according to the City Record. The agency intends to give a contract renewal to Good Shepherd Services for an undisclosed amount, and to Heartshare St. Vincent Services, also for an undisclosed amount.
