NYN Media has taken the 100 largest nonprofits in New York, by revenue, and broken them down by the numbers. IRS 990 filings published by GuideStar were used for this new weekly series. 

In this report, NYN Media counts down from No. 91, New York Hotel Trades Council & Hotel Association of NYC, Inc. Health Benefits Fund, followed by the Visiting Nurse Association of Central New York, Inc. at No. 90 and the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation at 89.

Health Benefits Fund provides health and pension coverage to employees of the hotel industry who are affiliated with the New York Hotel Trades Council themselves, or who are employed by organizations that are affiliated. The New York Hotel Trades Council Committee is the union affiliated with the New York Hotel Trades Council, which was one of the first major unions to back Gov. Kathy Hochul and gave to her $21.9 million campaign. The union exceeded the maximum a union can give and even was refunded $4,000.

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation is a New York-focused nonprofit specializing in health services specifically aimed at New York State. Though guided by principles of the Roman Catholic faith, the organization awards grants and sponsors programs that target low-income New Yorkers, regardless of faith. In January 2022, the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation awarded $140 million in grants to over 450 New York-based organizations in an effort to support underserved communities and their needs.
