Service Program For Older People Announces Advisory Board

The Service Program for Older People, a senior service provider founded in 1972, announced a new advisory board at its June 10 annual meeting.

“We have long dreamed of having an Advisory Board to provide guidance and support,” said Board President Carolyn K. McCandless in a press release.

While the board has no legal or fiduciary responsibilities, its members will serve as ambassadors and advocates for the organization. The advocacy board is comprised of Martha L. Bruce, Lowell Chase, Mary Q. Connelly, Carolyn Handler, Laurel Henschel, Henrik T. Petersen, John Rusk, Renee Solomon, Robert Schachter and David Theobald.

Members come from myriad backgrounds. They are academics, attorneys, CAOs, social workers and investors.

“The group that we welcome to SPOP today is comprised of ten outstanding leaders who share a commitment to improving the health and well-being of our older neighbors, friends and relatives,” said McCandless in a press release.

The Service Program For Older People provides services to meet the mental and physical health needs of older adults living in Manhattan. It serves more than 1,000 people each year and looks to reduce hospitalizations and healthcare use of the older population.
