Staten Island isn’t really known for its views. Sleepy sidewalk-lined streets, street-corner diners – these are the things that make Staten Island, Staten Island.
But you can’t get to the island without being treated to some of the best views in the boroughs. Cross the Verrazano and the view of the Narrows is breathtaking. Take the ferry, and you get to feast your eyes on Lady Liberty and the gleaming lights of lower Manhattan. And coming soon, the New York Wheel promises to be one of the most scenic rides in the world.
So we reached out to Staten Island’s elected officials and asked them about THEIR views – specifically, what they thought was the one thing that would make Staten Island better. We don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say that a particular theme ran through all the responses we received. Can you guess what it is?
