Carl Paladino
Who said it: Trump or Paladino?
Carl Paladino ran for governor of New York in 2010. Donald Trump flirted with a run for governor of New York in 2014 before running for president in 2016.
Trump, a wealthy businessman and real estate developer with no prior political experience, is now the president of the United States. Paladino, a wealthy businessman and real estate developer who had no prior political experience in 2010, was Trump’s New York campaign co-chairman.
In 2010, Paladino ultimately lost badly to an establishment candidate who is part of a well-known Democratic political family before being elected to the Buffalo school board in 2013. Trump lost the popular vote, but won a close contest to an establishment candidate who is part of a well-known Democratic political family.
The similarities don’t end there – the two men were born a few months apart in 1946, both call New York home, and each one has made headlines – and both friends and enemies – for their unfiltered style.
With Carl Paladino in Albany this week for a hearing to decide if he can remain on the school board following two editorials he wrote in which Paladino allegedly revealed confidential information and made derogatory comments toward Barack and Michelle Obama – we were reminded of a few other things they have in common.
Here are some of their more controversial comments. Can you tell which politician said what?
