Rev. Al Sharpton addresses workplace diversity
The Rev. Al Sharption is known the country over as one of the nation's most respected civil rights leaders. The founder and president of the National Action Network – a nonprofit organization formed in 1991 with more than 100 chapters nationwide – Sharpton was the perfect keynote speaker candidate for our Diversity Awards Ceremony. Taking the opportunity to celebrate the people and companies who advance diversity, Sharpton, along with emcee Saundra Thomas, the Vice President of Community Affairs at WABC-TV, moderator Tunisha W. Walker, the Senior Vice President at Capalino+Company, and a group of panelists use the forum to address the lack of diversity in the corporate and legislative workplace, specifically as it pertains to executive positions. Or as Sharpton put it, "Like the Rocky Mountains, the higher up you go the whiter it gets."
