President Trump to appear at Inner Circle
Tonight’s Inner Circle show could be a night to remember, with two of the annual political satire’s biggest stars rumored to be returning to the stage.
Remember the time New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani stunned the crowd by showing up high heels, lipstick and a platinum blonde wig? This year, the former mayor is angling to reprise his role as a Marilyn Monroe look-alike – along with another unexpected visitor who has a striking resemblance to comedian Alec Baldwin.
President Donald Trump, who stole his scene in a supporting role alongside Giuliani in 1997, has reached out to his old friends in New York’s press corps and requested a 15-minute rebuttal skit at the end of the evening, a time slot ordinarily reserved for the mayor, sources tell City & State.
But what better billing is there for the show, titled “Trumped! de Blasio to the Rescue?” this year, than America’s president and America’s mayor – and this time, with both men in drag as two showgirls?
“He’s decided to go on a charm tour with the media,” a Trump spokeswoman said on condition of anonymity. “And he decided to start in New York at the Inner Circle because he’s been playing the New York press corps like a fiddle for more than three decades. He figures this is the easiest audience he can find to test out Trump 2.0.”
The skit will repeat many of the same elements as in past years – and, in fact, much of the same dialogue is unchanged – thanks to a script penned by Melania Trump.
When we reached out for comment, Inner Circle President Andrew Siff hinted that our rumor may be correct.
“Let’s just say that we should be able to see on Saturday night whether Jared and Ivanka – in addition to fixing the Middle East and solving gender pay inequality – can sing and dance like Astaire and Rogers.”
