NYN Insights Podcast on Celebrating History and Adopting New Technology
The Museum of Jewish Heritage is known as a living memorial to the Holocaust, and focuses on the culture and recent history of the Jewish people. President and CEO Michael Glickman took the reins in September with a mandate to boost attendance and keep the museum healthy. We spoke about what he’s doing to raise the museum’s profile and how he’s responding to recent incidents of anti-Semitism and bomb threats to Jewish centers across the country.
Also, older adults are among the slowest adopters of new technologies though they can benefit greatly from the social interaction and access to information and services the internet can provide. Tom Kamber, founder and executive director of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) talks with us about how their innovative technology curriculum for seniors is being put to use in places like the Queensbridge Houses – one of the first New York City Housing Authority developments to be outfitted with free broadband access thanks to a recent city initiative partnering OATS, the Department for the Aging, Citi Community Development and Jacob A Riis Neighborhood Settlement’s Senior Center.
